We use LogMeIn Central by GoTo for remote management and monitoring of various devices, specifically desk tops and laptops. It can also be used for patch management and automation through the software. This often times is used when issues occur and a Level 2 or 3 technician will need to remote into the device to review what is occurring. Action items can then be handled by the technician to remediate the issue.
  • Remote Login to a device anywhere in the world
  • Automate various tasks
  • Patch Management
  • Pricing can be expensive
  • Customer Support - Can be timely waiting for support personnel on a software issue
  • Printing issues with various reports can sometime be fluky, then suddenly they clear up
This is a great tool whether your an SMB (Small/Medium) business or a larger enterprise company. One of the biggest struggles that folks have is when something is not functioning correctly on their laptop or device and they are unable to articulate the issue, or just at a loss. This is also useful with manufacturers who sell laptops/desktops to provide assistance to the end client to identify hardware or software issues on their machine.

I have several companies that I have installed LogMeIn Central by GoTo that we use to remotely manage all company computers in one interface. We can look at cpu usage, installed software etc when troubleshooting end users. It is a all in one platform to manage small to large enterprise organizations.
  • Organize computer into groups
  • Remote management and inventory
  • Trouble shooting issues
  • send and receive files
  • Cost
  • speed
  • screen resolution sometimes is an issue especially with smaller notebook screen size
  • Audio is sometimes and issue where the audio is not in sync.
This platform is great on troubleshooting and doing tech support for remote users. The full tool set allows me to pull and send files to the remote computer/server. I can use shortcut keystrokes to speed out routing short keys on Windows computers. It is really hard to think of a circumstance where LogMeIn Central by GoTo is less appropriate. I can only think of an issue if the remote computer has malware and or issue with internet connectivity and trying to log in becomes ineffective.

We were not using a Standard tool for Remote Desktop (as we were using Team Viewer/AnyDesk), then we purchased Central as remote tool. This resolved many of our major problems like secured Remote connection, no interruptions via share, managed asset inventory, pushing updates/patched with ease, Scheduled updates, software upgradations/bulk installations.
  • Excellent Remote Tool
  • End to End Managing the asset history/Inventory
  • Help in Bulk Installation/Uninstallation and pushing scheduled patches/updates
  • Complex in using scripts to automate few things like poweroff etc
  • If any system is in Shutdown mode, it will not show correctly colour whether it is in live or in shutdown state. We have to manually check by getting inside.
  • When we roll few security rules/policies/permissions, it says it was applied but when we check if wasn't the case. We need to do multiple times and cross check whether it is applied
As far my exoerience, this is more suitable on medium level companies where the employee/systems counts are not very high. If your company has more users/connections, then it will be complex to manage

We give it to end-users to remotely access their PCs. Remote access and work from home.
  • Simple remote access from almost every device
  • Provisioning
  • Security
  • Remote printing
  • It really does exactly what we need!
It is controlling access to multiple people across multiple organizations. One account can manage multiple groups and computers. In our case, each group is a separate company. This makes it easy to give and control access to end-users. Remote users need the ability to print locally. This works very well with LogMeIn Central.

LogMeIn Central is used mostly in 2 departments. One is by myself to provide remote support and software updates to staff in satellite offices. Another department is for remote access to workstations in their office as they need direct access to a local server for what they do. LogMeIn Central allows me to carry out support functions and troubleshoot all my users' computers (about 150) and remotely access and manage all my on-premise servers while enabling me to work from home to do so.
  • Ease of use - it's pretty simple to get in and get started.
  • Updates - one of the modules allows you to see what windows updates computers need and to apply them, and to see some 3rd party software that needs updating too.
  • Assigning users to machines. Allows you to enable a user to access one or many machines, in a group or one by one. Simple and easy to control access as needed.
  • Central managers/admins should have a way to force a reset of a users password - right now each user has to initiate that on their own.
LogMeIn Central is well suited when you need to have a physical connection to a server but have staff that needs to work remotely. They can log into a computer that's local to a server, even while being somewhere else. It also allows visibility for admins to see what machines are connected and who is using them. Also, it has many tools to remotely fix things on a user's PC, often without any interaction needed from the user (even simple things like changing the system time).
Not so useful when video calling, sometimes the sound gets a bit weird.

LogMeIn Central is being used to remotely manage client networks, workstations, and provide remote user access to local workstations. LogMeIn Central allows me to address client computer issues during and after work hours. It has improved the level of customer satisfaction 3-fold. It is an integral part of delivering world-class support to small and medium-sized businesses where IT expertise is limited.
  • Remote computer access
  • Providing remote user access to local workstations
  • Deployment and groups for adding and managing accounts
  • Anti-virus management and reporting
  • Update management: Better access to computer update status
  • Ad hoc support: Use of codes preferred for more efficient help desk support
LogMeIn Central can be an important tool in providing high customer satisfaction, retention, and support.

LogMeIn is being used throughout the whole company for deploying Antivirus and Windows updates. It comes in handy when I need to remote into a users computer at any given time without issue. Its a great program and would recommend to any new user.
  • Remote access 24x7
  • Antivirus/windows updates
  • Excellent Portal page to view all workstations and tasks
  • Onetomask thershhold tasks are amazing
  • The best way to Administer all your workstations in one place
  • Provide a current status bar of the virus definition updates
  • Allow all windows updates to be downloaded (regardless of group policy settings)
  • Tell LogMeIn to only focus on one anti-virus program and not multiple
I use LogMeIn mainly for remote access, that is the main reason why I chose this application, hence I've used the program before. Also for Windows and anti-virus updates as well. Currently or organization is using a different antivirus program and would like to slowly migrate to the LogMeIn AV. One great feature LogMeIn has is it recognizes other AV's applications, and currently, we are using Sophos. I am still able to track and update the AV software on all workstations at this time.

We use LogMeIn Central across the whole organization, and with several of our clients. It solves multiple issues, (1) people at home accessing their internal computer at the office, (2) IT support personnel accessing people's computers to give them help when they have an issue, (3) IT support accessing servers in our data center when things go wrong, (4) anti-virus software that can be integrated with the computers, and (5) seeing what patches and updates that need to be applied to these computers.
  • Remote access
  • Remote support
  • Anti-virus software
  • Getting access to the command line where there are more serious problems.
  • Ability to restart in safe mode a computer
  • Ability to see the updates and problems with computers
  • Ability to monitor who is online accessing their computer remotely
  • Not working with a Chromebook.
  • Their antivirus software has produced some false positives
  • Their phone support has been hard to get a hold of at times.
  • They are more expensive than other remote access / control software
LogMeIn Central is well suited to companies that need remote access to their work computers from home. It is well suited to companies that are spread across the country. It is well suited to companies that have more than 100 computers to support. It is well suited for IT staff that need to be able to get access to computers remotely even when they have been infected with a virus.

It is not well suited for smaller companies, or companies that only want something like remote control or access.

We used to use LogMeIn to facilitate remote support. Now we use it primarily to provide our users with remote access to their own computers.
  • The actual remote control interface is very nice, it's a really solid interface and works very reliably.
  • The remote print feature is very nice.
  • LogMeIn Central is a great interface for managing groups of users and facilitating granular access to users for specifics groups of computers.
  • The mobile app is very good.
  • The biggest problem with LogMeIn is the pricing—every year they raise prices. For businesses that can justify the expense, it's still nice to have and to be fair, some of LogMeIn's competitors are similarly raising prices every year, but still, it's the single biggest point of frustration. Not just because it gets more expensive, but because it makes it hard to commit to LogMeIn as a long-term infrastructure choice when the year-over-year cost is not only increasing but unpredictable. I just don't see the value of the product rising commensurate with the price increases. They do keep improving it and adding features but at the end of the day what 99% of users care about is still just the remote control, not all the secondary features.
It's well-suited for business users and also is a good choice for organizations with higher compliance thresholds to meet. I would say I have more confidence in LogMeIn from a compliance/security point of view than I do in some of its closest competitors. It's a solid product.

Our IT department uses it to remote into our end user machines, especially those out of the office. This helps us support the end users when they encounter problems without having to rely on them to describe the problems they are having.
  • Easy to remotely control a PC
  • Easy client installation
  • One central console for all of your systems that you can group logically
  • A better machine cleanup process would be nice to remove inactive and old machines.
They do remote control very well. They also do a good job showing what is running actively on the machine without having to remote into it. Its also good at letting the end user know when someone has connected or even setting it up to require the end user to approve a connection.

The IT department uses LogMeIn to manage a fleet of computers all around the world. We have users 20 feet away and users 2000 miles away. Working in airports and hotels that we need to be able to quickly support. LogMeIn allows us to quickly find and remote into the user's computer no matter where they are. Having the ability to quickly connect and troubleshoot users' computers from anywhere saves us time and allows our employees to remain productive, saving the company money. I highly recommend LogMeIn Central to any organization that needs fast, secure remote management from anywhere.
  • It is easy and fast to find a user's computer thanks to the groups, custom names and searching ability.
  • It connects quickly and allows us to view all active monitor sources.
  • I can easily add users to groups to allow them to access only what they need to manage limited remote machines.
  • It lacks ability to control devices without the client installed via a link sent to the user
  • Sometimes the client crashes and the user has to reboot to fix
  • The client doesn't auto reconnect after reboots
LogMeIn Central is well suited for midsize companies with a wide spread environment and multiple departments or divisions. It allows you to easily manage multiple groups across multiple companies or divisions flawlessly. It also allows you to create unique access rights for users. It is also great for companies that have a lot of users working on the road or out of their homes.

We have off-WAN sites to which LogMeIn gives us access. Our computers at remote sites are not on the Domain and do not use VPN. Their only access to us is via RDP, but our only access to them is via LogMeIn. LMI is also installed on Domain-Joined laptops for remote assistance in the event they are home, or out of town and the unit is inaccessible via our WAN. Our entire I.T. department has access to LogMeIn, but only a select few have administrative access.
  • Scheduled reboot of PCs. This is helpful for users who forget, or refuse to restart their computer on a semi-regular basis.
  • Assigned installation packages - we can generate install packages which will force a computer into a particular group. We can also set timed or quantity expirations so they cannot be used indefinitely.
  • Antivirus Status - LogMeIn will give us the AV status of any computer on which LMI is installed. This is helpful to detect computers in the wild which may be vulnerable.
  • Windows Update Status - In a similar vein as AV status, LogMeIn also monitors update status and lets us know if there's an issue with Windows Updates. Again, useful for the off-domain PCs which we don't touch or control nearly as often.
  • I wish we had more control of the client. We cannot turn off the remote notification - when connecting to a PC, the user is always notified that we are on with them.
  • Online notification - it would be helpful if we could flag particular units so we are notified when they come online via LogMeIn.
  • Group editing - moving a computer from one group to another isn't a quick task. Moving a GROUP of computers is downright impossible unless you've just created that group.
  • There's a lack of computer information from the console. Showing us a serial number, and maybe PC specs would be helpful.
Off-WAN sites. Road warriors. Home workers. All of these are excellent use cases for LogMeIn. Having users who work from home, it is neither our job, nor desire to set up port forwarding in their firewalls for remote assistance if necessary. LogMeIn allows us to remote into our computers no matter where they are, provided their connection isn't blocking communication. A similar response for those in the field. We obviously wouldn't be able to connect through a hotel's firewall. LogMeIn makes it easy to help our remote users.

LogMeIn Central is used by all employees in our service group to manage workstations and servers. It is one of several software tools we utilize to remotely connect. Central does a great job managing the servers and workstations into groups as well as providing downloads for deployment of the software at managed clients.
  • Extremely flexible and useful remote access tool.
  • Superior ability to manage, rename, and organize servers and workstations.
  • Create reports regarding online and availability.
  • Management of devices can be buggy at times, slow to delete, etc.
  • Occasional issues with installation causes duplication on machines in Central.
  • Does not provide ability to download full deployment via Windows Group Policy. (Need to manually connect to account)
LogMeIn is a great standalone (or secondary) remote access system. Most monitoring systems provide built-in tools for remote management and connections. LogMeIn is extremely useful at least as a secondary system if not primary. It does a phenomenal job of forcing reboots to inaccessible machines. It may not be the best software if you are cost conscious as they appear to raise the price annually.
